A Small Group Music Mentorship Program (MMP)
taught by Eric Owyoung

What is MMP?

The Music Mentorship Program (MMP) is a private online mentoring program run by Eric Owyoung. Emphasizing the creation of songs, recording, and mixing, the one-on-one instruction with Eric offers higher learning beyond other internet resources such as instructional videos. This course is about your music, and the instruction is a live interactive music-creating process with Eric over the internet. Using Zoom and HD live streaming, Eric will work with your songs, discussing the process with you in person. Classes are limited to 8 students, so your work will be featured in at least two out of the eight sessions. Hear what MMP students have to say about the program.

MMP is designed for serious musicians who want to be challenged and expand their musical abilities and ideas.

What can I expect from MMP?

Musical concepts will be presented and discussed in relation to the project(s) you choose to work on. Unlike a typical instructional online music course, this program is designed to focus on what YOU are currently working on and creating. This will push you to the next level, and your current project will be the medium by which you make progress. If you are not currently working on a project, I can offer structure and guidance in finding material to work with that will help you. I will also have office hours for extra support on an appointment basis.

Why was MMP created?

I studied music before the world wide web existed. This meant that anyone wanting an education had to to be self-taught or find a way to attend a college. Now, with YouTube and other internet resources, anyone can learn just about anything without having to step foot in a classroom. However, something extremely vital is missing in that kind of learning environment: human interaction and feedback! If you are like me, you've needed someone to not just hear your music but to guide you to deeper places of creatvity. The solution is a real, live mentor.

I want to help musicians who are serious about learning. As you consider applying for this program, think of this mentorship as a short season in which you will have eight weeks of access to a mentor who will guide, develop, and help you become more of the musician you want to be.
